GG&G has a history of making accessories for tactical weapons including shotguns and military rifles. Some of their most popular items have a simple appearance but are engineered to create a tactical advantage in an adverse situation. The GG&G Mossberg 590 Front Sling Attachment is an example of just such an accessory.
They developed and designed the front mount for the Mossberg 590 sling for several important reasons. First of all, current tactical applications for utilizing a sling on shoulder mounted combat weapons requires mounting said sling to the side of the combat shotgun. This aids in satisfying one of the critical factors in this equation, the ability to make a smooth, rapid and safe transition to the service sidearm. It is fully ambidextrous too.
In addition, experience has demonstrated that the use of sling clamps that go around both the barrel and magazine extension tube of a fighting shotgun will spread the barrel and tube by varying amounts, depending upon how much tension is applied to the clamps retaining screw. As this is difficult to gauge, the weapon zero will change every time the clamp is removed for maintenance and then reinstalled. The GG&G Shotgun Front Sling Attachment for the Mossberg 590 prevent this from happening.
The Mossberg 590 sling mount will also fit the Mossberg 835. The Mossberg 590 sling swivel is machined in the GG&G facility from AS-35 Geneva steel. Of exceptionally high quality, this famous Swiss steel features molecular structure with elongated grains for added toughness. The corners have been rounded and dehorned for the operator's safety. A ball bearing detent on the Sling Attachment helps secure the unit behind the magazine tubes end cap. This product is manganese phosphated matte black per mil-spec.
