Being tenacious means one holds fast. One is persistent and cohesive. It means being tough and tireless until achieving your goal: all knife-worthy definitions for a worthy knife. The mid-sized Tenacious has a black G-10 laminate handle, milled with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Tucked inside are skeletonized steel liners increasing the handle’s rigidity and strength without adding non-functioning weight or bulky thickness.
The 8Cr13Mov stainless blade is leaf-shaped and ground flat from spine to cutting edge for cutting performance. The blade’s shape coupled with an oversized Spyderco Round Hole and textured spine jimping allow you to open the blade and position your thumb on the spine in slip-proof confidence ready for work. A Walker Linerlock (with jimped liner) and a 4-way pocket clip lets you set your carry and draw preference: Tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand. Screw together construction.

In 1990 Spyderco shook things up by introducing two knives, the Delica and Endura. First of their kind on the market, both folders opened up the knife market to lightweight performance, one-hand open pocketknives that just about everyone could afford. They settled as Spyderco’s top two bestsellers and their improvement hasn’t slowed since. Refinement has been so ongoing and continual Spyderco tagged the updating/upgrading process with the term CQI- Constant Quality Improvement. During the Endura and Delica’s CQI journey Spyderco tweaked ergonomics, refined blade steels and fine-tuned their performance countless times. They are an evolutionary work in progress and the next level is here with the new Endura4 and Delica4. Both models now have screw construction making cleaning and adjusting easier. The fiberglass reinforced nylon handles come molded with Bi-Directional Texturing® for preferred traction and improved ergonomics. Inside the handle dual skeletonized stainless steel liners make the knife stronger without adding weight and make an anchor for all external and internal components to attach through adding sturdiness and rigidity. Their VG-10 blades are flat saber-ground with a stronger tip and larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade’s spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed clip.
|
The all stainless version of the popular Spyderco Delica. Slightly beefier and more substantial than the lightweight version, it provides a sense of solidity yet doesn't feel like you are toting a heavyweight. The smooth metal handle give you surface area for adding personal engraving or Embellishment. The hollow-ground, modified skinning-style blade is made of AUS-6 which is loaded with a carbon level of around 1% for advanced edge retention. Two sets of pre-drilled holes let the clip be positioned for tip-up or tip-down carry.
|
Steel handled Spyderco knives offer several specific benefits. They make excellent hard-use knives by virtue of their heft and solidity and also offer a surface for custom engraving and Embellishment. The Spyderco C10 Endura has a modified skinning-style blade, laser cut out of AUS-6 high carbon steel. Two sets of pre-drilled holes allow the metal clip to be positioned for a tip up or tip down carry. The knife blade is hollow ground. A David Boye Dent has been added to the locking lever.

If you already own a Delica or Endura, you have one of the best selling knives Spyderco makes. This knife is a bit different from the normal C10 Endura4 and C11 Delica4 Lightweights. They are now available in a range of new handle colors with full-flat ground blades.
Their FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles come in new vibrant tones for 2010 including blue, green, brown (this knife), gray and purple. Molded onto the handle's surface is Bi-Directional Texturing® for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity.
The blades are full flat-ground VG-10 with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade’s spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left-or right-handed clip.
Flat-ground Endura and Delica Lightweights are produced in limited numbers as part of the 2010 production line up.

Spyderco trainers are non-sharpened knives that allow for safe practice and various methods of training. They let the user learn deployment/retrieval techniques, perform drills, and develop confidence and muscle memory without risking cutting themselves or others with a sharp blade.
The Endura Trainer is identical in weight and size to the 'live' model. To enhance the balance of the piece, Spyderco has tapered the unsharpened tip and drilled holes through the blade, removing unnecessary bulk. Volcano grip texturing on both sides of the handle put the brakes on your hand slipping while training. All Spyderco training models have red handles designating them as non-sharpened.
*Endura trainers also fit the bill as a unsharpened practice knife to safely teach non-knife people the fundamental movements in safely opening and closing a folder.

Like the claw of the Harpy eagle the C08 is shaped for controlled pulling cuts. The hawkbill blade shape originated in the marine/fishing industry where severing rope, line, webbing and netting is done at arm's length quickly and efficiently. The curving arc holds what you're cutting against the sharpened edge keeping it from slipping off the tip.
Custom knifemaker David Boye developed the dent in the locking lever, which insures the blade remains securely locked open when gripping the handle with force. Cut out of the handle is a shackle key/drying vent allowing air to circulate around the blade when closed wet. Metal clip is positioned for tip down carry.

This year’s knife industry trends appear to be leaning toward making functionality fun and techie with folding knife features like the Emerson opening feature leading the parade. Popularized and patented by Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knives, the opening feature is a hook curving out the blade’s spine that catches the edge of your pant’s pocket when drawing the knife. It quickly opens the knife blade so it’s locked and ready to use. The fact there is a learning curve in using the opening feature makes a this trainer applicable.
Gaining proficiency in safely handling and opening an Emerson folder comes through repetitive practice. Delica and Endura Emerson Opener Trainers are identically sized, proportioned and weighted replicas of their “live” counterparts sans a sharpened edge and point. Designating them trainers are their red FRN handles. The handles have Bi-Directional Texturing® for traction and screw-together construction for cleaning and adjustment. To reduce weight the dual handle liners are skeletonized stainless steel and holes in the blade remove even more ounces. Phosphor bronze washers smooth open/close action and the clip attaches in four-positions: tip-up/ tip-down, left- or right-hand.

If knives could be created in the same way we choose players for fantasy football league teams, every hardcore knife knut would recruit features and characteristics they like best from different knife companies and combine them into their favorite knife. Spyderco will undoubtedly fulfill many knife knuts knife fantasy picks with the introduction of the Delica and Endura with Emerson's opening feature. These models combine all that’s functional and performance-based in a Spyderco folder with the blade-opening feature made popular and patented by Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knives.
The Emerson opening feature is a hook curving out the top of the knife’s blade. When removing the knife from a front pocket it catches the pocket’s edge quickly opening the knife blade ready to use. The knife can also be taken out of the pocket without engaging the opening feature by pulling it straight up and out with your fingers on top of the closed blade.

We have been told by Spyderco that they will no longer be producing the SPYDERENCH, so get 'em while they last.
The T01 SpydeRench includes a real Spyderco knife with a locking full-sized, one-hand open/close knife blade and pocket clip, plus much more. Designed by an aerospace engineer in conjunction with Spyderco’s research and development department, the T01 is made of investment-cast 17-4ph corrosion resistant stainless steel and features an adjustable crescent wrench with an opening capacity of 9/16”. On the opposite end, a 2-setting slip joint plier fits comfortably in the hand that has been contour casted, no pinched fingers. A set of four screwdriver bits tuck deftly inside, including: a #2 and #3 Phillips-head as well as a #1 and #2 flat-head. The SpydeRench also accepts any standard 1/4" sized bit from your hardware store, including Allen and Torx®.
The tool also features a diamond-coated file featuring a concave, convex and flat sharpening surface with a small Phillips head on one side and a hole starter on the other end. A unique pivot pin allows the tool to rotate into an extended position that locks open creating a full-sized easy to grip screwdriver and crescent wrench. By releasing the pivot, the screwdriver and knife portion of the tool can separate from the crescent wrench allowing both tools to be used independently and/or simultaneously. AUS-8 premium stainless steel was chosen for the full-sized locking knife blade. Includes Nylon Sheath.

Time and again law enforcement officers have opted for the Police Model since its debut in 1984. Spyderco packs as much blade length as possible into the handle for big cutting power in a slim profile.
The Police Model has a David Boye dent cut out of the locking lever allowing you to gorilla grip the knife without accidentally releasing the lock. The blade is hollow-ground VG-10 and thick at the tip for added strength with a weight-reducing swedge along the spine. All stainless, the handle is perfect for engraving or embossing. Steel clip positions the knife for tip-down pocket carry.
|
A cornerstone in Spyderco's Save and Serve line up, the Military Model came about after someone asked Spyderco's owner Sal Glesser, "If your son were going into the military what folding knife would you send him with?" For certain, it had to meet the requirements of a high-performance, light-weight folder designed for hard use.
To create an even more subdued blade they have blackened the blade with a BodyCote black matte coating. Since the steel is the spirit of the knife, CPM-S30V seemed the logical choice for the blade given its reputation for long-term edge retention and rust resistance. The 'Millie' has a modified clip-point blade coated in non-reflective black then laser cut with a 14 mm Spyderco Round Hole for quick deployment and for use with gloves. Texturing above the hole hold the thumb in contact with the blade's spine during cutting for confident control over the sharpened edge. The handle scales are G-10 with the lock's liner nested (inlayed) directly into the scale, pumping up lock strength without the addition of bulky liners. Spacers between the scales create a gap running the handle's full length exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. The handle flares slightly at the front end creating a finger choil and at the butt end, which keeps the knife from slipping forward or backward in the hand while sawing or making tough or aggressive cuts. A contoured black metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down carry.
